Vaughn Brock is the Investment Committee Chairman for Veritas Family Partners, is a single family office investment firm. Veritas Family Partners’ objective is to build an investment portfolio based on long-term capital appreciation with a primary focus on traditional private equity, real estate, oil and gas working interests, mineral and royalties, and selective investments with established third-party managers in the private and public markets.
Vaughn began his real estate career over 30 years ago, when he founded Brock Investment Group, a company focused on acquiring, developing, leasing and managing office, retail, industrial, multifamily and land projects. Vaughn began his post-graduate school real estate career with the office division of Trammell Crow in the late 1980’s. Prior to graduate school, he worked as a petroleum geologist for Exxon, developing oil and gas properties in Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado and Utah. Vaughn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
Vaughn worked for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), a public pension plan, from 2012-2016, where he helped create an Energy and Natural Resources private markets portfolio and launched a TRS London office with the goal of deploying co-invest capital in the private market sectors of real estate, private equity, energy and infrastructure in Europe.
Vaughn has taught Entrepreneurial Process to MBA students at the University of Texas, St. Edwards University, and the Acton School of Entrepreneurship. Governor Perry appointed Vaughn to the Texas Public Finance Authority, where he served for five years as a volunteer board member, overseeing the issuance of tax-exempt bonds on behalf of the State of Texas. He is the father of three Eagle Scouts, with a fourth son in process. Vaughn has also been involved with Rotary International (Paul Harris Fellow), Young Life, Youth with a Mission, Westlake High School PTO (President), Austin Oaks Church (Elder), YPO and WPO.
