Tom Watts is CEO of Watts Capital, LLC, an investment bank providing capital raising and M&A advisory to companies in growth industries. The firm has dedicated teams in TMT (Technology, Media & Telecom), Cleantech, Energy, Healthcare and Real Estate. Typical assignments often include first institutional capital raises of $5 to $30 million that are placed with investors such as venture capital firms, private equity firms, family offices and high net worth individuals. The firm also acts as a principal and sponsor through the creation and funding of special purpose vehicles leading these investments. Personally, Tom has specific interest in the new generation of companies that are pioneering space exploration and related technologies.
Tom began his career providing valuation and project finance services for telecom assets such as satellites, undersea cables, microwave and fiber optic systems. Subsequently, Tom rose to become Co-Head of Satellite and Space Finance at Bear Stearns & Co. He then served as Managing Director at Merrill Lynch and Cowen & Co., focusing on the telecom sector.
Tom began his career at management consulting firm McKinsey & Company. He also became a principal at a small consulting firm that the team built and sold to Booz Allen, where Tom served as a Principal.
Tom earned his B.A. degree from Stanford University and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designations, and holds, or has received waivers for, securities licenses 3, 7, 63, 65, 24, 79, 86, 87 and 99.
