Texas Family Office

Texas is the second largest state in the United States in terms of both geographical size and population.   It also has several large cities that host a high level of wealth such as Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, making it a good prospect for family offices.   The following free guide to Texas Family Offices will help you better understand Texas family offices and provide you with resources to learn more about Texas family offices. Introduction to Texas Family Office

As previously noted, Texas is very large, in terms of both population and actual size.  Now, size and the number of people in a state does not necessarily indicate that there are family offices operating in the state, it is a good indicator, especially given that there are several very large 1 million+ population cities.

Why Texas?

Texas is not known around the world for its financial sector, but there are many financial institutions based in Texas.  This includes several investment managers that control billions of dollars like TPG and many hedge funds.  (If you don’t believe that a state like Texas is home to hedge funds, read this Economist article titled “Hedge Funds in Texas”.)  With many large businesses like Exxon Mobil and ConocoPhillips headquartered in Texas as well as many financial firms across the big 3-4 cities in the state, there is a lot of wealth being created in Texas and an increasing need for wealth management firms and family offices.

Family Offices in Texas

There are not a great number of family offices in Texas, compared to more finance-centered states like New York, California and Illinois.  However, there is a lot of wealth being created in the Lone Star State and family offices would do well to take notice of potential clients in Texas.  That’s not to say there aren’t already several family offices in Texas.  For example, Tolleson Wealth is a multi-family office based out of Dallas, Texas–the firm manages an estimated $2.3 billion for its clients.  Family offices like Tolleson Wealth have established a strong foothold in the state and surrounding region, offering clients a local solution to their wealth management needs.
